On April 4,2008 I took the chance of a lifetime to own my very own house. Follow along as I take chances in rehabbing a house with limited skills learned from growing up. I'm sure there will be some tears shed, blood & bruises, and lots of sweat....but isn't that what life is all about? Taking risks(chances) on something you never imagined possible.
The kitchen all finished with beautiful curtains done by a superb family friend......thanks Bonnie!!
Bonnie made me some pillows for my family room
Here's the blue one
And a red one.
Then for my bedroom...Bonnie made all the pretty pillows, curtains, and dust ruffle.
I love me some paisley...especially in my three favorite colors!
Now my bathroom gets a little TLC with a matching shower curtain.

Last week I had the chance to go out to California to visit an old YCP/sorority sister...Erica.
The beautiful new backdoor
The old kitchen stove among the demo
The interesting space that was below the window but is no longer there
the freaky looking old ceiling before tearing it down
the exposed brick wall in the kitchen-hasn't been completely finished.
the back corner of the kitchen after the cabinets were taken down.
the cabinets are in and now getting ready for the countertops
this is where the new microwave and stove will go
a view with all the cabinets in
the temporary plastic wall to prevent the dust going into the rest of the house
IT'S FINISHED!!! The new island
The new cabinets and appliances!! Got to love my double oven:-)
My favorite part is there is just enough space for my bike to be tucked away and out of the living room.
The new basement door
The cabinets around the old fridge...waiting on my new one
The whole picture!!!! There is still one cabinet missing to the right of the backdoor. The cabinet people had given me an 18inch and I needed a 21inch, which should be here next week. What's left to do in the kitchen for me....paint and hang the pretty curtains.
The new stain glass window that I designed.
My new dinner table that expands to seat 6 people...come over for a meal.
The soon to be "gone backdoor" with Andy's window frosting done this past weekend.
My garden has grown and the rats no longer touch it. I suggest looking at old blogs to see the garden in the beginning.
The laundry room in the basement
the basement bomb shelter....soon to be guest bedroom
The guest bedroom
the other wall in the guest bedroom
I was bored on a Friday night before going out so I decided to take up the carpet on the stairs.
The living room with my new furniture (the baby glider at the window will be replaced soon with a big comfy chair.

My bedroom
Every girl must have a green vacuum especially if that is her favorite color.
another view of my bedroom
The master bathroom that needs to be painted...anyone care to help?
This is what the floor looked like under the carpet.
